Note:
Careful handling
For example, a choledochal duct with elasticity can still be pulled when clamped shut, and with more space in the deltoid area, it's still sloppy to clamp in the wrong direction and cut it longer and shorter.
Picture I
Mistake: The curved sides of the clamp are all in the same direction.
In hepatic cancer resection and segmental hepatectomy, due to the poor elasticity of cirrhotic blood vessels and the narrow space between the tumor and the liver tissue, misuse may tear the blood vessels, or even cause hemorrhage after hooking or clamping off half of the ducts due to failure to clearly observe the head of the clamps, the correct use of the forceps and clamps is especially critical.
Operation Illustration:
The direction of the clip latch (A→B) should always be toward the operator, making it easy for the operator to see if any foreign material or excess tissue is hooked or entrapped when the clip is locked. This is why the clamps are designed in such a directional arc.
In turn, the notches C (C1, C2) of the clamp are oriented toward the ductal tissue that needs to be clipped or handled or prepped. The design of the curved notches of the forceps is consistent with the principles of surgical instrumentation. This requires the nurse to choose between positive and negative orientations for installation when securing the clamp to the head end of the forceps, depending on the situation.
Note:
Hem-O-Lok ligation staples are supplied sterile. Do not disinfect the ligation nail repeatedly. The Hem-O-Lok ligation cartridge contains barium and is radiopaque. Ligation forceps care, cleaning and disinfection:
The biting surfaces of manual ligation forceps are very delicate and easily damaged. Incorrect handling of the ligating forceps will result in incorrect insertion and/or closure of the ligating staples. Proper care, cleaning and repair are very important to ensure proper function. Please inspect this ligation forceps before every surgery to prevent potential damage. Pay special attention to the clamps. Damaged or misoriented jaws may not allow the nail to achieve acceptable closure of the occlusion.
Hem-O-Lok Large Ligature Forceps are supplied non-sterile. The ligation forceps should be cleaned, lubricated and disinfected before each use. Keep this booklet in a safe place.
